Tempora mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis

Liebe Freunde,

vor mehr als dreizehn Jahren habe ich meinen Blog „Enkephalos“ gestartet. Ich begann, mit Vergnügen, Notizen über das Tagesgeschehen, Gedanken über Gott und die Welt und meine Lauferei niederzuschreiben. Ich bin damals zwar weitergelaufen, aber mein Blog schlief - leider! - ein. Auch wenn meinen Blog damals kaum jemand gelesen hat, mir hat es Spaß gemacht. Meine Bilder aber habe ich seitdem hauptsächlich auf Facebook veröffentlicht, und Ihr, meine lieben Freunde, habt sie mal mehr und mal weniger kommentiert und „geliked“. Instagram habe ich schon bald wieder aufgegeben, da mir das Posten zu umständlich und die Regeln für die Formate zu beschränkend waren. Seitdem dümpelt mein Instagram wie ein Zombie halb im Diesseits, halb im Jenseits.

Leider hat mir das Metaverse endgültig einen Strich durch meine Rechnung gemacht hat, und wie ich über die letzten Wochen lernen musste, können seit einiger Zeit viele meiner Bilder auf einigen Handys in der Facebook App nicht mehr dargestellt werden. Das betrifft iOS und Android, nicht aber iPads, interesanterweise habe ich - der ich hauptsächlich mit dem Browser arbeite, davon lange nichts bemerkt. Und leider betrifft es auch Bilder, die absolut sicher schon in der App zu sehen waren. So wie es aussieht gibt es auf absehbare Zeit dafür  keine Lösung und weil ich fotografieren möchte und mich nicht mit irgendeinem IT-Scheiss beschäftigen möchte, den ich wahrscheinlich nicht ändern kann, habe ich das für den Moment aufgegeben. Ich habe daher beschlossen, auf Facebook keine weiteren Bilder mehr zu posten, sondern diese über meinen Blog Enkephalos zur Verfügung zu stellen. Der Vorteil ist, dass dieser Blog im Browser dargestellt wird, man keinen Account als Betrachter benötigt und für mich ohne großen Aufwand fütterbar ist. Denn, wie gesagt, ich möchte mich nicht mit irgendeinem IT-Scheiss beschäftigen, sondern fotografieren. Jede Veröffentlichung wird auch auf Facebook beworben, sodass Ihr nicht immer warten müsst. Über Kommentare dort oder in Facebook freue ich mich natürlich. Ich werde zunächst mit älteren Posts anfangen, immer wieder neue dazu mischen - und auch etwas mit Formaten und Kommentaren zu den Bildern spielen. Ich freue mich sehr darauf und würde mich noch mehr freuen, wenn Ihr mich weiter begleiten würdet.

Dear friends, 

I launched my blog "Enkephalos" more than thirteen years ago. I took pleasure in jotting down notes on current events, thoughts on life and the world, and my running activities. While I kept running, my blog—sadly—fell dormant. Even though hardly anyone read it back then, I enjoyed the process. Since then, however, I’ve mostly published my photos on Facebook, where you—my dear friends—would comment on and "like" them from time to time. I gave up on Instagram quite quickly because posting felt too cumbersome and the formatting rules were too restrictive. Since then, my Instagram account has been languishing like a zombie—half in this world, half in the next. 

Unfortunately, the Metaverse has finally thrown a wrench in the works; as I’ve learned over the past few weeks, many of my photos can no longer be displayed within the Facebook app on certain mobile phones. This affects both iOS and Android devices—though interestingly not iPads. Since I work primarily via a web browser, I didn't notice this for a long time. Sadly, the issue even affects photos that were definitely visible in the app previously. It looks like there is no solution in sight, and since I want to take photos rather than deal with IT bullshit I likely can't fix, I’ve given up on that for the moment. I have therefore decided to stop posting photos on Facebook and instead make them available via my blog, Enkephalos. The advantage is that the blog displays in a browser, viewers don't need an account, and it’s easy for me to update. After all, as I said, I want to take photos, not deal with IT bullshit. Each new post will still be promoted on Facebook so you don't have to wait around, and I’m always happy to receive comments there or on Facebook. I’ll start with older posts, mix in new ones along the way, and also experiment a bit with formats and captions for the images. I’m really looking forward to it, and I’d be even happier if you continued to follow along.
